교육적으로는 좋지 않지만 - I don't wanna grow up by Tom Waits

사실 노래 자체는 맘에 안 드실 확률이 높습니다. 저는 이 노래를 가사 때문에 좋아합니다. 제 자신 이 가수 목소리 별로 맘에 안 들지만 이렇게 묘사한 평론가가 있네요.

"like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car."

"술통에 푹 담갔다가 몇 달 동안 연기로 그슬리고 밖으로 가지고 나와서 차로 밀어버린" , 이 정도 되나요? 술과 담배를 아주 좋아하는 양반인 모양이에요. "The piano has been drinking (not me)"라는 노래도 불렀죠.

오늘 제가 소개하는 노래입니다. 누구하고 꼭 비교를 한다면 Bob Dylan하고 비교할 수 있지 않나 합니다. 가수이지만 시인에 가깝다고나 할까요.

"Dream on", "Grow up", 이런 얘기 가끔씩 들을 수 있죠. 우리 말로는 "꿈 깨", "철좀 들어라" 하고 번역될 수 있지 않나 합니다. 저는 외모에서의 분위기와는 달리 항상 이 노래 가사처럼 생각하고 있었습니다.

책 소개입니다. 이 노래를 알게 된 것은 이 미국교포 만화작가의 "Same Difference and other stories"를 통해서였습니다. 책도둑이 도둑 아니라는 말 때문인지 몇 년 전에 제게서 빌려가서 이 책 안 주시는 분 다 보셨을테니 돌려주세요. Amazon에서도 살 수가 없더라고요. 아주 철학적인 만화책입니다.
