일본을 대표하는 밴드 중의 하나죠. 가사 등 자세히 알아 듣지 못 하셔도 무슨 얘기인지 쉽게 알아 들을 수 있도록 만들어져 있죠. 제 자신의 편견이겠지만 남자 가수 목소리가 이렇게 높게 나오는 게 일본 가수들 중에 흔히 볼 수 있는 경우가 아닌가 합니다. 제 자신 요즘 무슨 하모니라는 남녀 가수가 부른 노래 듣고 깜짝 놀랐습니다. 일본 아니고 한국에도 이런 스타일이 있구나 하는 것과 노래 너무 잘 한다는 거에요.

저는 주변에서 담배 끊겠다는 얘기를 제일 많이 듣고 있습니다. 올해 말까지 피아노를 한 곡이라도 죽이게 치겠다, 이런 건 어떨까요? 전 이 비디오 너무 재밌어서 제가 똑 같이 한 번 해 보고 싶습니다.

이 노래가 그 노래인지 몰랐어요 - Nantucket Sleighride by Mountain

이 노래도 아래의 책에서 명곡으로 리스트한 곡인데요. 저는 한참 전에 'Led Zeppelin'이라는 술집(?)에서 여러 번 들었던 것으로 기억하고 있습니다. 어떤 때는 slow dance인 것처럼 들려서 남녀가 소위 블루스를 추려고 하다고 음악이 갈팡질팡해서 어색해 했던 적도 있었죠. 이 당시에는 소위 영국 출신의 음악가들이 하도 미국을 주름 잡는 통에 미국 사람들도 나름 대로 좀더 예술적이고 멋있는 음악을 만들려는 의식적인 노력이 있었나 봅니다. 좀 자세히 들어 보닌까 여러 가지가 다 나오네요.

설명하기 어려운 목소리 - Steve Winwood

한참을 쉬었습니다. 일을 안 하고 돈도 안 벌었다는 거죠. 반대는 많이 했습니다. 놀면서 돈 쓰는 거요.

제가 저 아래 써 놓기도 했는데요. "Paint it Rock"이라는 rock의 역사에 대해 쓴 만화책을 사서 열심히 보면서 전설적인 곡들을 찾아서 들으면서 많은 시간을 보냈습니다. 대부분의 곡들은 들어보긴 했는데 제가 제목을 모르는 노래들이더군요. 지금 제가 소개하고 하는 곡도 앞뒤의 배경이 없으면 그냥 괜히 재미 없는 노래일 가능성이 높습니다. 이 노래가 나오던 시기에는 다들 좀 심각하고 서사시적인 곡을 쓰고 부르고 했던 모양입니다. 'John Barelycorn은 죽어야한다'는 뭔 소린지 알기 어려운 노래를 불렀네요. 이 노래는 그냥 그럴지도 모르고요 Traffic이라는 group의 대표주자였던 Steve Winwood의 노래들은 찾아보시면 좋은 노래가 좀 있을 겁니다.
