화성으로 돌아가셨다고 - Life on Mars by David Bowie

제 주위에 있는 분들 사이에서 많은 사람들이 이야기하는 화제는 아니였습니다. 제 자신도 이 뮤지션의 몇 곡들을 열심히 들었을 뿐입니다. 저를 비롯한 몇 사람들에게는 남성인지 여성인지 알기 어려운 때도 많았던 점이라든가, 어떤 이유 때문에 양 쪽 눈동자의 색이 달랐다든가 게다가 본인인이 화성에서 온 Ziggy Stardust라고 말하는 것 등이 음악에 집중하기 어렵게 만들었다고 볼 수 있겠죠. 써 놓고 보니 숙제 안 해온 학생이 늘어 놓는 변명처럼 생각이 되네요. 이왕 숙제라고 썼으니 휴일에 날 잡아서 추천 받는 앨범들을 들어봐야 되겠다고 생각하고 있습니다. 다른 무엇보다도 각 노래나 앨범에 재밌는 스토리가 있을 것으로 생각이 됩니다.

이 노래도 영화 속에서 처음 듣고 찾아 듣게 되었으니 위대한 뮤지션에 대한 예의가 아님을 피할 수가 없네요.

한 두 번 읽어서는 어떤 줄거리의 중간 토막인지, 무엇을 말하려 하는지 잘 모르겠습니다. 아마 그런 것이 의도가 아닐까도 생각하고 있습니다. 화성 또는 화성인에 대한 얘기는 지구 또는 지구인과 많이 다르다는 말을 다르게 표현하는 것이 아닐지 하는 생각도 듭니다. 너무 쉬운 비유를 힘들게 찾아내고 있는 것은 너무 오랫 동안 여기를 떠나 있어서일까요?
