아무리 천재라 하더라도 평생 훌륭한 곡을 계속 만들 수 있는 것은 아닐 거라고 생각합니다. Beatles를 보든 누구를 보든 창작 쪽으로 전성기는 반드시 있는 것이 아닐까요? Deep Purple이 이 곡을 발표했을 때가 가장 전성기였는지야 듣는 분에 따라 다르겠지만 창작 쪽으로 가장 에너지가 넘치는 때였던 것은 아니였나 합니다.

가끔씩 또 생각합니다."의식의 흐름"이라는 말에 대해서요. 머리가 너무 좋고 한 분들은 본인이 쓰는 글이나 또는 말보다 생각의 흐름이 훨씬 날아다니겠죠. 보통 사람들은 그 날아다니는 생각 중에 한 마디씩 떨어지는 말이나 글이 무슨 뜻인지 알 수가 없죠. 뭐, 머리가 아주 좋은 사람이 아니라도 어떤 이유 때문에 마음이 급해져서 혹은 전부에 대해서 얘기할 수 없어서 "의식의 흐름"처럼 느껴지게 되는 말이나 글을 하게 되지 않을까 합니다.

시대의 흐름이라는 것도 있다고 생각합니다. Deep Purple이 이 곡을 만들고 연주하던 시기에 동 시대의 다른 밴드들도 이런 철학적이고 긴 곡을 많이 했던 것으로 기억합니다. 죄송하게도 음질이 참 안 좋네요. 좋아도 조금 지겨울 수 있는데요.
